During the public‑comment portion of the inaugural meeting, three district residents spoke.
Laura Whitney, who identified herself as a school bus driver, urged review of busing eligibility rules and said some students appear narrowly ineligible under current standards. Whitney also raised safety/maintenance concerns about bus wheel hubs and asked that transportation policies address employee needs.
Monica Corey urged the board to pause any rushed decision on closing Cedar Valley Elementary and asked the board to gather all facts, work with families and seek community and legislative supports before a closure. "A decision to close now would be very rushed," she said.
Becky Jones, an Eagle Valley Elementary teacher, thanked the board for local representation, warned of a projected enrollment increase of at least 200 students next year at her school, and asked for improvements to teacher workroom and facilities planning.
The board thanked the speakers and noted it will continue to solicit community input on boundary decisions and operational policies.
