The Troy Law and Ordinance Committee on Monday authorized the city law director to act as agent for property owners to begin the annexation process for a 0.67‑acre parcel at 3103110 Center Road. Chair Jeffrey Widdon announced the committee’s decision at the Nov. 24 meeting.

Committee members and staff described the request as a procedural step to “square off” municipal boundaries near a larger annexation. An unidentified speaker told the committee, “We are to the point where we have the survey, we have the drawing and the law director is ready to begin the formal process of annexation for this property owner,” and asked the council to authorize the law director to act as the owner’s agent so the paperwork could proceed.

The speaker said the parcel is about two‑thirds of an acre (0.67 acres) and sits on a corner adjacent to a roughly “50 or 60 acre” annexation the council recently approved; that larger annexation did not include this property and the owner agreed to pursue annexation separately. The speaker also said the request did not require emergency legislation.

Chair Jeffrey Widdon sought questions from council members; none were raised. When asked for a recommendation, Widdon moved to proceed, saying “Move forward,” and stated the motion carried unanimously. The committee did not record additional amendments or conditions at the meeting.

Next steps: with the committee’s authorization, the law director is expected to begin the formal annexation process on behalf of the property owners. The committee adjourned after the vote.
