The Iberia Parish Council on Nov. 19 voted to advance a sweeping set of 2026 budgets and to confirm multiple appointments to parish boards and commissions, while removing three resolutions related to Bagwell Energy Services Inc.'s industrial tax-exemption recommendations.
Clerk of the Council read ordinances adopting 2026 budgets for the general fund and many special funds — including road district maintenance; roads sales tax; library board; fire protection district; rabies control; HUD Section 8 housing choice voucher program; community development block grant; airport authority; capital improvements; and others. The council moved those items forward for publication and consideration as introduced.
Council also considered and approved reappointments and appointments to local boards: Seward District board, 16th Judicial District children and youth planning board, the Iberia Parish Tourist Commission, and related nominations from local organizations. Applicants appearing before the council introduced themselves and described previous service.
Separately, three resolutions authorizing the parish president to make recommendations to the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry regarding Bagwell Energy Services Incorporated industrial tax-exemption contracts (several contract numbers and dollar amounts were read into the record) were deleted after members said the items had already been removed in committee. Councilmembers from the dais moved to delete the items, and the deletion motions carried.
