Cher Kauie, CEO of the Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce, summarized the Chamber’s 2024–25 year: teacher appreciation outreach (2,500 bags), signature festivals and parades, 35 ribbon cuttings, a $20,000 donation from BHE Renewables, and board expansion from 13 to 17 members, plus upcoming community events including a Christmas parade and a drone show.
Cher Kauie, CEO of the Imperial Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce, presented the Chamber’s fiscal‑year 2024–25 report during the State of the City program at the El Centro Library, outlining community outreach, events and membership growth.
Kauie said the Chamber distributed 2,500 teacher‑appreciation bags to schools across the Imperial Valley to welcome teachers at the start of the school year, and noted a $20,000 contribution from BHE Renewables that supported classroom initiatives. The Chamber held signature events including the annual Honey Festival, a Christmas parade in partnership with the city of El Centro, an Airshow gala and a Margarita Challenge that drew businesses and community members.
The Chamber reported 35 ribbon cuttings across the region, welcomed 49 new members and 253 renewals, and said five members have each celebrated 40-plus years of membership; El Centro Motors was highlighted as a 68‑year member. Kauie said the Chamber’s board voted in March 2025 to expand from 13 members to 17 to strengthen representation for Calexico, Westmoreland and Imperial, and introduced the new board and staff leaders.
Kauie thanked partners, volunteers and sponsors and announced upcoming events: the El Centro Christmas parade and a second annual drone show scheduled for July 4, 2026. She closed by thanking Mayor Sonia Carter and city staff for their partnership.
No formal Chamber resolutions or city votes were taken during the presentation.
