At its meeting, the Jackson County Board of County Commissioners approved a series of routine but substantive administrative items and contracts.
Key approvals included: a resolution and grant agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation for design work on County Road 271 (River Road); a joint participation agreement with FDOT for landscape improvements on State Road 276; renewal of the DataWorks+ maintenance contract for the county jail's rapid DNA machine; a task order to Southeastern Survey for right-of-way work on Pilgrim Fresh Church Road; award of the courthouse air-handler contract (bid $257,124) with the courthouse covering a $57,124 shortfall; and awarding the county fuel contract to Bennett Eubanks (sole bidder).
The board also approved a work change directive for the Mashburn Road grant (additional stormwater work covered by grant funds), a $68,000 task assignment to Jones Edmunds to monitor the closed landfill and an authorization to issue an RFQ for future services, budget amendments for FY25–26, and the appointment of Commissioner Spires to the 2026 Tri County Community Council board.
In the added item, the commission approved Amendment No. 4 to CDBG-COVID grant H2494 to pass additional 100% federal funds to Jackson Hospital to add isolation/negative-pressure capabilities and other COVID preparedness work; staff explained the county must be the eligible applicant and serve as a pass-through for the hospital’s improvements.
Each item was presented by staff, moved and seconded, and approved by voice/hand vote as recorded in the meeting transcript. No further contesting motions were recorded in the meeting minutes for these items.
