The Southgate Community Schools board approved multiple lower-dollar facility contracts and a policy change at its Nov. 25 meeting.
Policy package 25-2, presented by staff as a second action item, revises the district's field-trip approval threshold so routine K–12 trips will not require full board approval; the item was approved by voice vote.
Facilities staff recommended a concrete walkway and a 10-by-10 pad at Allen Elementary to connect the GSRP door to the small playground and provide a pad for a shed used to store riding toys. The vendor Royal Cement was recommended under the district's five-year concrete contract at $6,263 plus a $2,000 contingency for a not-to-exceed $8,263 amount; the board approved the contract.
The board also approved commercial-grade locker-room storage solutions for Anderson (converted shower areas) from Casper Corporation not to exceed $36,050.88, to be purchased from bond funds. Staff said the units are commercial-grade, roughly 7 feet tall, and designed to accommodate multiple sports with warranties and replaceable pieces.
All three items were approved by voice votes. Staff said further work remains on site-wide renovations for pool-area locker rooms and that more details will be presented when available.
