Superintendent Dr. Justin Irish presented an executive summary of a tentative collective bargaining agreement between the Northshore School District and the International Association of Machinists, District 160, Local Lodge 289, which represents bus mechanics. Irish told the board the parties reached agreement on Sept. 18, 2025, and the union notified the district of membership ratification on Oct. 31, 2025.
Attached to the board packet was an executive summary and a red‑line version of the updated collective bargaining agreement. The superintendent recommended approval and the board moved, seconded and approved the tentative agreement; the transcript records applause and a director’s thanks to both sides but does not provide a roll‑call vote tally.
Why it matters: The agreement governs wages, working conditions and other employment terms for bus mechanics; ratification advances labor stability for district transportation services.
What’s next: Staff will finalize contract paperwork and implement the terms once administrative steps are complete.
