At its Nov. 25 meeting, the City of Buckeye Planning and Zoning Commission approved multiple routine administrative items and recommended two small rezoning items to city council.
The commission recommended approval of PLZZ‑25‑0008, a rezone for 501 East Mahoney from an obsolete planned residential district to Downtown Residential to allow a child‑care use in an existing structure. Planner Trish Cooley said the site is about 0.75 acres, lies within the DSAP and general plan activity center, and that staff had no outstanding departmental issues.
The commission also approved a rezoning for 120 South 4th Street (PLZZ‑25‑0009) from Commercial Center to Downtown Commercial to accommodate a proposed ~6,000‑square‑foot commercial building with four suites; senior planner Joseph Miller said the change aligns with the downtown specific area plan and would promote a pedestrian‑oriented downtown core.
Separately, the commission approved a continuance for the Grandview rezone (PLZZ‑23‑00016) to the Feb. 10, 2026 meeting at the applicant’s request so adjacent neighbors can attend. The commission also approved cancelling the Dec. 23 regular meeting because there were no urgent items scheduled, and it approved the minutes from the Oct. 28, 2025 meeting.
The items will move to City Council where required by the code; staff said there were no outstanding review comments on the rezones approved at the meeting.
