County elections staff reported to the board that a recount of ballots for the Sergeant Bluff community school public measure took place on Monday, lasted about three hours and did not change the results the board certified during the canvas.

Elections staff said the recount was conducted by a three-member board that included the Sergeant Bluff school superintendent, county elections staff and Deputy Hoffmeier. Staff also said recent legislative changes altered how some recounts are conducted and noted that this was the first recount the office had handled since 2010.

The board thanked elections staff for conducting the recount and for their handling of procedures; no changes to the certified results were announced during the meeting.
