The Bruton City Council presented a proclamation recognizing the Home Health Care Authority and honored recent fire department graduates during the meeting.
The mayor called up the new graduates by name, including Hayden Atkinson and Brooke Horr, and praised the city's fire and police departments for their service. A fire department representative emphasized that recruiting new firefighters strengthens the city's ability to protect residents and noted individual awards for graduates, including a mention of firefighter medic Cody Wilson.
The mayor also referenced a severe traffic accident on South Boulevard earlier in the week, thanking first responders for their work. The council thanked city staff for recent downtown holiday lighting efforts and urged citizens to attend the December Christmas parade.
A public works update followed: Ray reported progress on a long-planned sewer project in the Rogers Street/Woodmont area, noting a grant, county commission assistance and completed easements that allowed the project to be bid. The council expressed appreciation for staff contributions to the project and community events.
