The Crow Wing County Board on Nov. 25 approved the 2026 budgets for nine Lake Improvement Districts (LIDs), appointed Dan Doucette to the Natural Resource Advisory Committee (NRAC) and adopted the county board's 2026 calendar.

Jessica (Land Services) told the board that LIDs are required to submit annual budgets and reports and that the county reviews their monitoring, treatment and annual meeting notices. She said the county's oversight is review-based and that LID boards are themselves taxing authorities, meaning the county does not have regulatory authority over expenditures once a LID is formed. The county invoices each LID a $250 annual administration fee for review services.

Commissioners then moved and approved the 2026 LID budgets by roll-call vote. The board also appointed Dan Doucette to the NRAC vacancy by motion and vote and adopted the 2026 standing meeting calendar (regular county board meetings set for the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, with several statutory exceptions and an evening budget/levy meeting Dec. 15).
