Peoria County planning staff described ongoing public outreach for the county's comprehensive land-use plan and invited committee members and the public to participate.
Andrew (staff member) told the Land Use Committee the outreach program has included interactive maps at recent events and that staff will staff a booth in Limestone Township/Bartonville at an upcoming tree-lighting or Christmas-in-the-park event to collect input. "On Saturday, we will be in Limestone Township... at the tree lighting ceremony or the Christmas in the park. I don't know the exact name of it, but we'll have a booth set up there trying to engage the public," Andrew said.
He described "future talks," a series of smaller, topic-focused meetings with civic groups or special-interest stakeholders and said the Peoria County Farm Bureau has helped distribute surveys and materials at their meetings and at an upcoming fruit-and-nut pickup, which staff estimates will reach about 600 vehicles. Andrew provided the project website, Peoriacounty200plus.com, as a place for residents to review maps and submit comments.
Vice Chairman Williams was acknowledged by staff during the update; the committee did not receive public comment during the meeting and adjourned following the briefing.
The outreach period is planned through the end of the year; staff invited any groups to request a presentation or materials to participate in mapping activities.
