At the Nov. 24 meeting council announced city holiday plans and community activities: Santa is scheduled to appear and the Christmas parade is set for Nov. 29 at 6 p.m., beginning at the elementary school and proceeding around the square to the fire station, weather permitting. Council members also thanked staff for a city employee Thanksgiving dinner held earlier that day.
A council member said they have joined the city's tree board, which is reorganizing and exploring posting information on the city website; the board expects outreach to begin around Dec. 14 and asked residents to suggest locations for new trees.
Separately, a council member raised pedestrian-safety concerns about a walking bridge near the Walmart that was damaged in a vehicle accident months earlier. Staff reported they have submitted a claim and are coordinating with the at-fault party's insurer and legal process; there is currently no firm repair timeline. Council members said the damaged bridge and limited lighting are creating a hazard for pedestrians, particularly as daylight hours shorten.
No formal action or funding request for immediate repair was recorded on the public record during the Nov. 24 meeting.
