Library Director Jody Gribonowski told the council that sometime between Saturday and Monday a drinking‑fountain‑related incident caused flooding that extended from the event room into staff spaces and an office. City crews and ServiceMaster removed hundreds of gallons of water, staff removed damaged sheetrock and carpeting, and restoration work included drying fans and limited patching.
Gribonowski said the library lost some fiber and bulletin-board materials and removed carpet from a staff work area; the library briefly closed for two days and reopened at noon the following Wednesday. She thanked city staff for the rapid response.
Separately, Gribonowski invited the public to several library events in December, including tech assistance, board games, family story time and a Yule book flood on Saturday, Dec. 13 (10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.), with live music and local authors scheduled to appear.
The council acknowledged the operational disruption and staff time involved and thanked library staff for their work handling insurance and cleanup logistics.
