Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca Junior used the county's district minute to outline recent capital investments in the 5th District, including school, pedestrian and emergency-response upgrades.
"This month, we celebrated a $1,900,000 investment at Joe Baca Middle School featuring a new mini pitch soccer field, granite walking path, and upgraded LED field lighting," Joe Baca Junior said. He also announced a $575,000 allocation to complete the Colton Avenue Class 1 bike path and trail, describing the corridor as a two-mile connection between Colton and San Bernardino with refreshed landscaping, updated striping and signage and enhanced safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Baca Junior said Fire Station 227 in San Bernardino is also receiving upgrades to support faster, more effective emergency response.
Baca Junior invited residents to follow county social media channels for updates and did not announce further budget votes or a timeline for completion during the segment.
Next steps: the supervisor encouraged residents to follow district communications for project timelines and future updates; no formal board action or vote was reported in the episode.
