The Davenport Community School District board handled routine governance items and completed the district’s annual organizational business during its November meeting.
The board approved the consent agenda on a motion by Director Hayes, seconded by Director Barnes. Finance director Kevin presented the monthly fund and key measures reports, noting the final ESSER funds were received in FY25 (about $1,000,000) and that property tax timing produced a short, temporary management‑fund deficit that will flip after October receipts.
On action items, the board: cast its weighted Mississippi Bend AEA board ballot for nominated candidates (motion by Director Hayes); approved the annual settlement report and a resolution authorizing the board president to approve payments between meetings (to avoid late charges); designated Lane and Waterman LLP as legal counsel for the coming year; and approved the board calendar for December 2025–November 2026.
During the organizational portion, county canvass results were read and new or returning directors were sworn in. The board elected Karen Klein Jerome president and Kent Pauschian vice president by roll‑call vote, administered the oaths and confirmed committee assignments would remain as distributed unless members request changes. Several routine motions passed by voice vote and the meeting adjourned.
The board also heard a public comment from teacher Rhianna Smith Trujillo and thanked FMPC parents and staff for their work on the facility master planning recommendations. No final capital approvals were taken at this meeting.
