Mayor Burke proclaimed Nov. 20, 2025, "Jerry Haddix Day" in South Lebanon during the City Council meeting, honoring Haddix for a decade of municipal service and thanking him for leading projects including the former South Lebanon Elementary School renovation and the new municipal building.
The mayor read a city proclamation that said Haddix "faithfully served the citizens of South Lebanon as city administrator since April 2015" and credited him with fiscal management, transparent government and community development efforts. The council also noted recognition from the Ohio General Assembly and the Ohio House of Representatives, sponsored by Representative Adam Matthews and referencing Speaker Matt Huffman, and a certificate from Warren County commissioners.
"We extend our best wishes for a long, healthy and happy retirement," Mayor Burke said while reading the proclamation. Jerry Haddix, speaking later in the meeting, thanked council members and city staff and said the change orders on the agenda were to wrap up projects this year so they would not carry into next year. "Thanks for everything," Haddix said.
Council members and department heads offered remarks of appreciation. Public safety and public works staff who worked with Haddix described his help in onboarding and in project planning. The meeting included a reception earlier in the day; the mayor noted refreshments were available in the break room.
The council also discussed next steps for city administration. Mayor Burke said interviews were underway to find Haddix's successor and that staff were preparing to transition duties. Council members asked that remaining personnel matters — including discussion of staff Christmas bonuses — appear on the next agenda for formal action.
