Snellville — The Snellville City Council convened a ceremonial meeting in November 2025 to swear in three newly elected council members, adopt routine meeting business and issue a cultural proclamation.
Mayor Barbara Bender administered the oath of office to Chante “CJ” Pitt and Rochelle Brown. After each recited the statutory oath and the phrase “so help me God,” the council recessed to regular business. “I will, to the best of my ability, faithfully perform the duties of the office,” Rochelle Brown said during the oath.
The council approved minutes for Oct. 13 and Oct. 27, 2025, after a motion and second; the meeting record shows the minutes were adopted with no opposition. A motion to approve the published agenda likewise passed by voice/hand vote (6 in favor, none opposed). Later in the meeting, councilors read and ratified the official election tallies for council posts; a motion to ratify those results passed 6–0.
Mayor Bender presented Proclamation 2025-15, declaring November 2025 as American Music Month and inviting Deborah Hughes, regional secretary of the National Federation of Music Clubs, to accept the proclamation and stand for photographs. The mayor said the federation and local music teachers encourage appreciation of American composers and musical education.
The meeting proceeded to council reports and the public-comment period following the ceremonial items. The council set several routine items for later discussion at a November work session.
The meeting ended after council business and public comment.
