Unidentified Mayor, the mayor of Livonia, opened the new Livonia Senior Wellness Center onstage, calling it “a historic day for the city of Livonia.” The mayor announced the 30,000-square-foot facility, which officials are calling Project Catalyst, is intended to serve the city’s senior residents and to invest in the community’s future.

City leaders framed the center as both a social hub and program space. The mayor said seniors requested a warm, inviting environment and described a bright, two-story lobby filled with natural light and a cozy fireplace with areas for spontaneous gatherings. The center will offer creative workshops for ceramics, woodworking, stained glass and pottery, the mayor said.

Officials also announced a partnership with local coffee shop Anastasia and Katie’s to operate an on-site café. According to the mayor, the café will be an inclusive workplace where people with and without disabilities can work side by side and serve the senior population.

The mayor described Project Catalyst as “not just bricks and mortar, but heart and purpose,” and called the facility “a promise kept” built by and for the people of Livonia. The mayor also said Livonia has the largest senior population in Wayne County and that each resident “deserves a place like this.”
