Madison County renews Purdue Extension services contract, director cites program growth

Jessica Schaller, county extension director, told the board she had provided an impact report showing more than 6,500 contacts and participants in extension educational programs this past year and noted growth in several 4‑H program categories. She said the contract amount cited in the meeting discussion was $165,000 and that staff reallocated some responsibilities to avoid increasing the county general fund contribution.
Chair moved to accept the extension contract as presented; a second was called and the board voted aye. Schaller said the reallocation included a redescription of an office administrator position and ensured no net impact on the county general fund while keeping staff in the appropriate roles.
Schaller also thanked county staff for assistance with clearing stored items at the youth center basement and noted recognition of local program success at a staff conference.
