The Rush County Board of Commissioners approved routine business and several departmental requests at its meeting.
The board approved the Oct. 17 minutes and voted to authorize payroll totaling $269,284.69. An attendee identified as S2 requested signatures on the third-quarter NDOT report and asked the board to approve a reimbursement request of $53,366; the board approved the request by voice vote.
The commission approved a revised GIS coordinator job description that moves the position from the auditor's office to the commissioner's office. Staff said the job description was emailed in advance and a commissioner made a motion to adopt the description; the motion was seconded and carried.
The assessor's draft contract was reviewed; staff described contract provisions including documentation submission, grass seeding acceptance criteria and the potential need for a performance bond. Staff recommended sending the contract for signature once changes are finalized.
Highway staff sought authority to purchase a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2002 Polaris Ranger UTV from Campbell Brothers and to trade in two county vehicles, including a 2019 Dodge Ram. The board moved, seconded and approved the purchases and trade-ins by voice vote.
The meeting also included a motion to approve a corrected letter related to Arlington/Anderson township matters; that motion passed.
The meeting concluded with staff updates on personnel timelines and routine monthly reports from the treasurer.
