Mason County commissioners on Nov. 25 approved motions to set and certify 2026 property tax levies for the county’s current expense and road funds, and to certify refund levies, then continued formal adoption to Dec. 9 to allow final figures from taxing districts and the assessor.
Jennifer Beyerly of Mason County Support Services briefed the hearing and said the rate-of-inflation factor for 2026 is 2.44%, so taxing districts with populations over 10,000 may use 101% without a separate substantial-need resolution. Beyerly presented four requested actions: set the current expense levy at $11,230,126.50 (0% increase using banked capacity), set the road levy at $11,982,340.51 (0% increase using banked capacity and including a $2,160,000 road levy diversion), certify refund levies and amounts for collection in 2026, and adopt the levy resolutions while continuing the hearing to Dec. 9 for final sign-off.
Commissioners moved and approved each action on the record. The motions passed by voice vote; the transcript does not include a roll-call tally. Beyerly said the resolutions and figures were prepared in cooperation with the assessor’s office and that taxing districts have until Dec. 1 to submit levy requests.
Next steps: the commission will reconvene Dec. 9 at 9:15 a.m. to formally adopt the resolutions and certify the levies to the county assessor for collection in 2026.
