An unidentified speaker at the Rock Springs City Council meeting said local initiatives are supporting Rock Springs High School students, including a Jay Foundation effort to buy boots for seniors and the student council’s participation in a statewide conference.
The speaker said the Jay Foundation has a committee working to provide boots to about 300 seniors and has "raised just about $22,000" so far, and that additional donations and help would be welcomed. The speaker described the fundraising as driven by a local committee and solicited community support.
The speaker also recognized the Rock Springs High School student council, saying 28 members attended the WASC conference, which the speaker identified as the Wyoming Association for Student Council, where students "were able to work with other students from around the state" to share internal operations and practices. The speaker added that Berkeley Gardner, a local student, was elected student council president.
The speaker said the weekend Home and Holiday show was "very crowded," noting "the best part of it, everybody was shopping locally, supporting one another," and that the craft fair at The Depot saw similarly strong attendance.
The speaker closed the update with thanks. No formal motions, votes or policy decisions were recorded in this segment.
