The Board of Trustees took several formal actions on Nov. 18 during routine new-business items and votes.
Approved: opening negotiations to replace the Unit H contract, set to expire June 30, 2026. The motion to authorize the administration to begin negotiations (including contacting legal counsel and the MTA representative to set dates) was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote.
Approved: FFA overnight trips, including a Winter Leadership Conference in January and a state convention tentatively scheduled March 31 April 2. Trustees moved and seconded the request and approved it by voice vote.
Tabled / Rescinded: a trustee proposed using trustees' funds as seed money for student fundraisers (example cited: a pig-roast fundraiser). After trustee discussion about educational value, equity among programs, administrative burden and the need for policy guardrails, the moving trustee rescinded the motion and the item was left for further study.
Approved: acceptance of a reimbursable grant from the Mass Cultural Council. Trustees moved and seconded approval of the grant acceptance; the amount was not yet specified and will be recorded once the figure is finalized.
Procedural approvals: the board approved the minutes of the Oct. 21, 2025 meeting earlier in the evening by voice vote.
What happens next: for the contract negotiations the administration will coordinate with legal counsel and union representatives; for the grant acceptance the administration will record the award amount and process the reimbursable grant according to district procedure; the proposed trustees-funds policy will return for further board consideration once parameters are developed.
