The Board of Sanitary Commissioners approved task order No. 2 with engineering firm T Y Lynn on Nov. 26 to advance expansion and improvements at the water pollution control facility.
District staff said a $3,500,000 program previously had been approved and that the new task order covers $1,698,000 for basis-of-design reports, development of contract documents at up to 90 percent, engineers’ opinions of probable construction cost and permitting assistance. The work described includes inline storage design, Kilgore interceptor work, demolition of some existing structures and plant improvements to increase operational capacity toward 35 million gallons per day (MGD).
Commissioners voiced no substantive questions; the board approved the task order by voice vote. District staff praised T Y Lynn for “innovative thinking” and said the consultants are coordinating with Lochmueller for related work. No construction contract award occurred at the meeting; the task order covers design and preconstruction professional services.
