Board materials show 174,746 registered voters at the time of the election and 77,354 ballots cast, representing a 44.27% turnout — up from 38.96% in 2021. Staff reported roughly 56,777 voters cast ballots at the polls (about 32% of registrants), 20,934 mail ballots were returned (11.98%), and 343 provisional ballots were recorded. By party, roughly 52.54% of ballots were cast by Democratic voters, 39.47% by Republican voters, and about 5.2% by voters with no party affiliation.
Elections staff told the board they completed a risk-limiting audit and internal reconciliation audits; hand counts in selected precincts matched the electronic results, and staff reported no incidents that would affect outcome integrity. The board prepared certification forms for signatures and approved the certification by roll call.
Staff also briefed the board on operational changes the office deployed this year: a new call center to reduce busy phone lines, a redesigned office layout and a traveling iPad for on-the-spot registration and mail-ballot status checks, and additional mail-sorting pockets to allow precinct or council-district sorting. The office reported 897 voters cast early in person, 550 poll workers attended in-person training with 272 completing online training (average quiz score ~95%), and the office expects to swear in 365 newly elected judges and inspectors in January.
Public commenters thanked elections staff for fast service during the election and cited rapid resolution of individual ballot issues. The board's certification completes the local formal approval of vote totals; staff said audits and reconciliations are complete and the county will file the signed certification forms as required.
The board did not identify any incidents requiring further investigation during the certification discussion; forms were signed and the certification was recorded as approved.
