At its regular meeting, the Wayne County Commission processed routine business and a set of noncontroversial actions.
The commission approved the reading and correction of the journal, accepted the audit committee's report to receive file, and approved committee reports from Government Operations and Public Services (items listed on the agenda). Several commissioners moved and supported approval of the items and the motions carried after little or no discussion.
The commission reappointed Commissioner Alan R. Wilson to the Wayne County Land Bank Corporation Board of Directors (moved by Commissioner Morecki, supported by Vice Chair Pro Tem Beydoun). Commissioner Wilson thanked the body and pledged to pursue policies to reduce property flight.
The body approved seven testimonial resolutions and certificates of appreciation, including recognition for the Merry Girl Community Association and an arboretum facility on Kentucky Street. Commissioners also named six memoriam entries and announced the death of former Representative Fred Durhall Jr.; funeral arrangements were to be shared when available and the commission observed a moment of silence.
In public comment, Terrence Pruitt, an employee at Lincoln Hall of Justice, described ongoing renovations and staffing changes at the downtown facility and urged attention to building conditions; the chair said staff would discuss the concerns with the courts.
Most items were procedural and carried without recorded opposition. The meeting ended with scheduling reminders for committee meetings next week and adjournment.
