Committee approves package of budget adjustments and certifies $388,000 Burns Grant for community corrections

The Wayne County Committee on Ways and Means moved, by tablet vote, to receive and file the treasurer's communication and to approve a package of budget adjustments covering several items in the packet.

Among the items the committee advanced was certification of a $388,000 Burns Grant to support an intervention program within the community corrections area that works with the county jail. Staff noted the grant paperwork had been operating under a different fund in county records and agreed to coordinate with Management & Budget to ensure the contract and budget entries align before the full board. Committee staff said the item (2025-35173) will move forward with that contingency.

Other budget adjustments advanced by the committee included reallocation of general-fund expenditures, certification and decertification actions across the county health fund and law enforcement fund, and an adjustment to cover a staffing shortfall related to the Robert Half International temporary staffing contract. Bill (of) Woodfield, identified as a budget director in the transcript, said he would provide the overall contract cost for the Robert Half agreement before the full-board vote.
