The Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary and Homeland Security on a voice vote approved an amendment to a one-year intergovernmental agreement with the State of Michigan to pay $231,665.68 in outstanding invoices for the prosecutor's office digital imaging project.
Tony Guerrero, identified in the meeting as representing the prosecutor's office, told commissioners the imaging was required for the office to move into the criminal justice center and that the office had no file storage space there. "What you have is a request for $231,665.68 to pay the outstanding invoices we have for digital imaging," Guerrero said. He said the state performed the digitization and the prosecutor's office had more boxes to convert than expected: "We wound up with hundreds of boxes beyond what we thought we would be stuck with at that point." Guerrero said the cost will be charged to account number 1012209.
Guerrero also said the digitization work had enabled the office to purchase 400 laptops configured to interface with the system and that the project had been "very, very beneficial." Commissioner Komani moved approval and Commissioner Daum supported the motion; the chair called for ayes and the motion carried.
The committee's vote sends the amendment on to the full Wayne County Commission for consideration, and staff said they would remain available to answer any follow-up questions about the contract or invoices.
