Union County commissioners approved an intergovernmental agreement to fund the county’s animal-control program with contributions from participating municipalities. The presiding official introduced the agreement "by and among the county of the Union, Manor, city of Jonesboro, village of Codman, village of Mill Creek, and village of Don Nola" and said the document lists the amount each municipality will pay the county for animal control.
A county official said all partners had returned signed agreements except Dangola and Mill Creek, which planned to consider the matter at their December meetings. The presenter described this as standard procedure when municipalities must place the item on a local council or village agenda.
A motion to approve the intergovernmental agreement was made and seconded, and commissioners voted in favor as recorded. The board did not specify additional funding changes at the meeting and did not amend the agreement on the floor.
Next steps noted in the meeting were for the county to finalize the agreement records and for the two remaining municipalities to report their decisions after their December meetings.
