The Pipestone County Board of Commissioners took several routine and programmatic votes on Nov. 25:
- Agenda: The board approved a requested agenda change to remove a tax-abatement item for Lisonbee Dowdy (requested by an unidentified commissioner) and then approved the agenda by voice vote.
- Consent agenda: The board approved minutes from 11/12/25 and commissioner warrants of about $106,001.82 and hospital warrants of $632,137.92 as part of the consent agenda.
- Crack-seal materials: Highway engineer Nick Bergman requested and received approval to order crack-seal material (box material) from Midstates to support 2026 work; staff noted an early-order discount if delivered before Jan. 30.
- Southwest Health & Human Services lease: The board approved a 2026 lease with Southwest Health & Human Services covering Jan. 1'Dec. 31, 2026, with basic rent listed at $38,000 and utilities/maintenance at $20,000 for a total of $58,000 annually; the lessee will pay monthly per the new contract language.
- Area 2 RCRC agreement: Commissioners approved a self-renewing Area 2 RCRC front-powers agreement so it will not need to come before the board biennially.
- Natural-resources block grant: Staff presented a 2026-27 natural-resources block grant; an additional $20,000 was included for low-income septic grants, bringing the septic account to about $50,000; the board approved staff signing the grant agreement electronically.
- Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force grant: The board accepted a Department of Justice grant to continue the Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force and Violent Crimes Task Force work; Pipestone County will serve as the fiscal agent.
