Apple Valley swears in two police officers returning and newly hired to the department
At the start of the Nov. 25 meeting the Apple Valley City Council welcomed and administered oaths to two new members of the Apple Valley Police Department.

Chief Francis introduced Officer Krista Erickson, who returned to Apple Valley in 2025 after previous service in the department (2013'020). Erickson holds a bachelors degree in criminal justice from Winona State University and a masters degree in police leadership from the University of St. Thomas and has worked as a patrol officer, retail crime liaison and school resource officer.

Chief Francis also introduced Officer Royce Fungvong, who earlier grew up in Maui, Hawaii, and holds a bachelors degree in criminal justice and human services from the University of Phoenix. Fungvong previously trained Dakota County public assistance workers and has experience with county, state and federal program requirements.

Both officers took the official oath of office administered at the meeting, were pinned by guests, and were congratulated by council members and staff. The mayor and council welcomed them and acknowledged community support in the chambers.
