The California Victim Compensation Board approved a set of routine administrative items on Nov. 20, including a modification to the Sept. 18 minutes, a 2026 meeting calendar and the approval of program items following closed‑session review.
During Item 6 (approval of minutes), Michelle Taylor asked that the minutes be amended to reflect that three individuals — a hearing officer, an attorney and a trainee — were present at her appeal hearing. Member Johnson moved to approve the minutes with that modification; the board voted aye.
The board also adopted proposed board meeting dates for calendar year 2026, maintaining a bi‑monthly cadence generally on the third Thursday, with May moved to the fourth Thursday to accommodate scheduling. Members asked about whether dates could be adjusted later if conflicts arise; counsel said meeting dates can be noticed and changed consistent with Bagley‑Keene rules.
Staff’s contract report was informational: it described term and duration extensions for existing contracts and added postage and IT service renewals, clarifying there were no new funds being added to those contracts.
After a closed session to discuss program matters under Government Code §11126(c)(3), the board reconvened and approved numbers 1–116 of the victim compensation program by roll call. The meeting then adjourned.
What’s next: Administrative items were approved and recorded; staff will continue outreach on TRC NOFA and return to the board with updates.
