An ISD 917 representative gave an overview of the intermediate district’s mission, programs and partnerships, and invited Farmington to consider additional sites for Students with Unique Needs (SUN) programming.
The presenter described ISD 917’s role serving students from birth to age 22, noted historical participation as high as 289 students in recent years and said roughly 187 Farmington students currently receive special‑education services through ISD programs. He highlighted partnerships (Rev Academy, Minnesota Humanities Center), scholarships (Saint Thomas), and career and technical education opportunities through area consortiums. The speaker emphasized a collaborative approach: "we're not interested in moving forward with this until we had a fairly high degree of confidence that this would go" and said member districts’ students are "all of our students."
Several community members thanked the ISD for its work and noted successful transitions for students from treatment programs into school‑based services. Board members expressed appreciation for ISD leadership and the partnership.
