A Farmington community member, Paul Putt, used the public‑comment period to thank the board and voters for passage of a recent levy and to urge the district to reach a constructive settlement with the teachers union.
"We want strong schools," Putt said, thanking voters for approving the levy and praising the board’s leadership over the past year. He summarized public numbers he said were available from each side of bargaining: citing a district first offer of about 11.39% over two years (not including insurance) and a union last offer of 9.6%, and urged the board to pursue "labor positivity" so teachers feel appropriately compensated relative to inflation.
Superintendent Berg later reminded the board that the district would enter mediation with the Farmington Education Association the next day and asked all participants to bring a student‑centered approach to talks.
The board did not take action during public comment; members requested ongoing updates as mediation proceeds.
