The Wallingford‑Swarthmore School District presented 2025 student assessment data on Nov. 20, showing strong systemwide achievement and growth while flagging persistent gaps for some student groups.
Ladri Schacht of the Office of Teaching, Learning and Innovation told the board that district students outperformed statewide averages on advanced and proficient measures for PSSA and Keystone tests, and that PVAS (Pennsylvania Value‑Added Assessment System) growth metrics indicate students largely met or exceeded expectations. Schacht highlighted that Strath Haven High School’s banked (best) Keystone results showed 82.5% proficiency in literature and 72.1% proficiency in math for the cohort reported.
Schacht also explained the Pennsylvania Future Ready Index — a public dashboard combining achievement, growth, attendance and college‑and‑career indicators — and noted that building‑level Act 13 scores were notably high across the district. The presentation emphasized that while growth is high overall, historically marginalized student groups (Black/African American, economically disadvantaged and special education) have lower proficiency rates and the district remains focused on narrowing those gaps through targeted programs and data‑driven supports.
Board members asked about the composition of the Act 13 score and whether attendance data could be used to analyze building scores; Schacht said the public dashboard will provide attendance components and that district attendance by building is above 93% in each of five schools.
