The Board of Equalization accepted the minutes and report from the 2025 County Assessor and Assessment Appeals Board (AAB) issues work group and approved a set of immediate follow‑up actions.
Member Vasquez presented the work group’s report, which included three priority recommendations: (1) request guidance on cross‑county appointment authority for AAB members, (2) establish an annual AAB update/educational meeting, and (3) clarify electronic signature and electronic agent authorization procedures in light of existing LTAs and statutes.
Legal counsel and deputy property tax staff told the board staff can research statutes and prepare clearer guidance; staff noted existing LTAs could be revised to clarify the interaction between digital signatures and board‑supervisor approvals. The board moved, seconded and voted to accept the minutes, direct staff to examine cross‑jurisdiction appointment authority and to provide additional guidance on electronic signatures, and to schedule a third work group meeting in February 2026 to continue deliberations.
The motion passed on roll call with all members voting in the affirmative.
