Trustee Catherine Dickerson will not complete her term as trustee for District 6, a resignation President Wagstaff read into the record at the start of the Douglas County School District board meeting. The resignation, conveyed in a written statement, says Dickerson must step down effective Nov. 30, 2025, because a family illness requires her full attention. "I regret having to inform the board that due to family illness, I will not be able to finish my term as trustee for District 6," the read statement said.

At the same meeting the board read a separate statement apologizing to the community for prior actions and acknowledged open‑meeting law violations. The board statement said trustees "accept accountability" and are "fully committed to rebuilding that trust by learning from our mistakes and moving forward with integrity," including additional training and steps to increase transparency.

The resignation and the board apology were presented without further board action at the meeting. No replacement process or timeline was announced; the board indicated it would follow standard district procedures for filling the vacancy.
