The adjuster for the town’s insurer had estimated about $80,900 in damages; La Rochelle’s bid was $84,500, meaning the town will cover the deductible and a modest shortfall. Ryan said he would negotiate with the contractor and press the insurer’s adjuster for additional coverage where possible. The board approved the authorization to sign so work can proceed without the delay of re‑bidding.
The town will provide the board with building‑and‑grounds input about the facility’s condition; Ryan pledged to email members with further inspection information requested during the meeting.
