Dan Miller, the district's director of athletics, presented an overview of fall season accomplishments and near‑term plans for program development and facilities.
Miller said the district currently fields 27 varsity teams, 19 junior varsity teams and 26 modified teams. He highlighted recent individual and team accomplishments — including section championships in boys soccer and noted athletes advancing to state competitions — and thanked coaches and athletic staff for their contributions. "We have 27 varsity teams, 19 junior varsity teams, and 26 modified teams," Miller said, describing broad participation across grade levels.
Miller outlined partnerships with the City of Binghamton to host sports clinics at Old Saint Mary's Gymnasium covering baseball, softball, basketball and cheerleading and said the district is exploring a winter indoor soccer clinic depending on municipal facility schedules. He described coach recruitment and development initiatives, including a turnkey training program by VX Sports and ongoing discussions with Guthrie to provide athletic trainers to cover events districtwide.
Facilities work discussed included new video boards at Alumni Field and the gymnasium (used to display students singing the national anthem), the resurfaced track and renovated field house at Alumni Stadium, and a new field at West Middle School that allowed JV soccer scheduling changes to avoid late nights for visiting teams. Miller also described athletic study hall once per week at the high school to support academic and athletic balance and said 24 of the district's 27 varsity teams met scholar‑athlete benchmarks, contributing to the district's designation as a "scholar‑athlete school of excellence."
The update closed with recognition of individual athletes and teams honored at the meeting and a reminder of upcoming district arts and athletic events.
