Monongalia County Commission approves consent agenda, personnel hires and multiple small grants

The Monongalia County Commission on Nov. 19 approved its consent agenda and a series of routine personnel and funding requests during a regular meeting.
County Administrator Reneta McClure presented the consent items, which included 13 exonerations totaling $8,117.27, minutes from the Nov. 12 meeting, and multiple vouchers and TIF/levy entries. The commission approved the consent agenda by voice vote.
On personnel matters the commission confirmed Carmen Fulmer as family and community development program coordinator (full time, effective Dec. 1, salary $40,000) and approved Joshua Brozick as a full‑time deputy dog warden (effective Dec. 1, salary $33,500, six‑month probation). Both appointments were moved, seconded and approved.
Grants coordinator Colleen Cooney requested reimbursement for the community corrections grant ($20,145.87) and a VOCA award ($8,181.17); commissioners approved those reimbursements.
Under new business the commission authorized up to $2,300 from the Monongalia County Ballpark Events Fund to support the West Virginia Black Bears outreach program for the 2026 season. Staff said the team has partnered with United Way and that private sponsorship has reduced this year’s county request.
The commission also approved additional compensation for the county assessor following certification by the West Virginia state tax commissioner that the assessor completed duties required under West Virginia Code §7‑7‑6b. A brief staff explanation summarized the duties that triggered eligibility for compensation and certification timelines.
Main Street Morgantown received $600 to record and televise the Dec. 10 Christmas parade. The commission approved multiple administrative requisitions, including Requisition No. 19 (Harmony Grove Phase 1 administrative expense, $1,036.25) and Requisition No. 12 (Mon General Maple Drive administrative expense, $132.50, payable to Steptoe & Johnson for annual report assistance).
All routine motions were approved by voice vote.
