Parks committee approves $354,819.90 playground for Beaumont Park School; school district to cover excess cost

The Green Bay Park and Recreation Department voted to hire Minnesota Playground Inc. to supply and install a GameTime playground with synthetic turf at Beaumont Park School for $354,819.90.

The director said the city bonded $75,000 in 2023 toward replacing the playground and originally budgeted $150,000 for a standard park playground that would be split 50-50 with the school district. "The city only has $75,000 that we can allocate towards this," the director said, adding that the school district reviewed the costs and "they will pay the difference" to accommodate a larger playground tied to school renovations. Staff reported they solicited multiple proposals, scored them with a committee of city and school district staff, and selected the highest-scoring Option 2 from Minnesota Playground Inc.

The total contract amount covers purchase, delivery, installation and synthetic turf surfacing. Board members asked clarifying questions about keeping one piece of existing donated equipment and confirmed the new layout will build around that piece.
