Long Beach — The city on Oct. 25, 2025, unveiled a new signature playground at Ramona Park featuring an aquatic theme, educational elements and amenities intended for children of varying abilities.

The design includes a whale-tail climbing station, additional sea-creature elements, fog water misters to cool visitors, a tot lot for younger children and a larger play area for ages 5–12. The city said the layout was developed with resident input gathered at community meetings and that upgrades include landscaping, seating, shade and ADA-compliant features.

City materials and presenters said the project was prioritized in the five-year infrastructure plan and funded through a mix of sources, including insurance-allocated funds, a state grant and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money. A city presenter said the project reflected "a citywide effort" that involved resident feedback and public meetings.
