Sheriff: Blue Lake calls for service rose slightly in October; trespass and camping calls jumped

"Calls for service in October were 296," McCall said, reporting a small rise from 290 the previous month. He said reports taken increased to 20 (from 18), misdemeanor investigations were up to 23, and felony investigations fell to five. McCall flagged a notable rise in trespass and camping calls in the reporting area, which increased from four in September to 18 in October.
McCall explained that incidents occurring along U.S. 299 are often handled by the California Highway Patrol, and that some transferred calls are grouped into the sheriff's monthly statistics. Commissioners requested that the sheriff's monthly log be included in future meeting packets so commissioners can review figures ahead of meetings and prepare targeted questions.
