Unidentified Speaker 1, a city staff member, told a weekly staff update that several requests for proposals are active or were issued this week and highlighted an infrastructure segment planned for early December.
"The RFP for the police and public works building project went out," Unidentified Speaker 1 said, adding the city also issued RFPs for janitorial services and painting the Sunset Center. The speaker said bid tours for the janitorial contract drew a large turnout.
The city is keeping an online map of road work on a three‑week rolling schedule to reflect shifting project windows. "They are keeping our city's website updated, on a 3 week rolling schedule," Unidentified Speaker 1 said. That map, the speaker said, shows descriptive locations of road segments scheduled within each three‑week window.
Unidentified Speaker 1 noted one notable segment coming up in the first week or so of December: Ocean Avenue. The speaker described the Ocean Avenue segment as a partnership between the city and the county that extends to Highway 1 and said it is in "dire need of work."
The city also introduced a new project manager (Shari) and encouraged residents to check the website for rolling schedule updates. No dates for the council-level approvals related to the police/public works project were specified in the update.
The city did not provide budget figures, procurement timelines, or contractor selections during the update; staff said proposals are being collected and that more details would follow as procurement proceeds.
