The Kerr County Commissioners Court received and accepted the biennial sexual-assault response team report covering Oct. 2023–Sept. 2025 from the Hill Country Crisis Council.
Suzanne Tomerlin, a Hill Country Crisis Council representative, told the court the council coordinated the Kerr County SART during the reporting period and strengthened community partnerships, trainings and advocacy. She provided statistics used in the report: 28 accompaniments to forensic exams, 104 clients served with counseling and advocacy, and 29 shelter placements for survivors; Mercy Gate Ministries provided services to 137 exploited or trafficked survivors in the broader region, and Peterson Regional Medical Center performed 29 forensic exams cited in the report.
Tomerlin said the group hopes to expand the team to include two more counties and increase case review opportunities to provide consistent survivor care across the Hill Country region. Commissioners thanked SART partners and moved to receive the report so the county clerk could forward it to the governor’s sexual-assault survivor task force as required by statute.
The motion to receive the report passed unanimously. The report will be submitted to the governor’s office in accordance with legislative requirements; staff noted the submission must originate from the commissioner's court.
