The Tavares City Council approved a ministerial assignment of the Jones Brothers Seaplane LLC lease at the municipal seaplane base, allowing new ownership to take over operations effective Dec. 1. Staff presented an assignment package including the existing lease and the proposed assignment documents; the new owner, introduced in the packet as Tommy Dykes, was described as experienced and the current owner, Peter Kosti, will remain on site in an advisory and consultant role for a transition period.
Council moved and seconded the ministerial approval and the administrator announced the motion carried 5-0.
The lease assignment is structured as a reassignment of existing leasehold interests and staff characterized it as ministerial rather than policy-changing; staff also noted packet materials included the existing lease and the owner’s resume.
