Jerica, the evening’s emcee, welcomed the crowd to the City of Santa Fe plaza and introduced a program of volunteer musicians, vendors and community announcements.
The event doubled as a community fundraiser and public-information platform: Captain Wagner and Jan Lobato urged attendees to support the Northern New Mexico Toy Drive, outlining ways to donate and local drop-off points. "Since 2009, the Northern New Mexico Toy Drive has provided over 63,000 Christmases to children who have been forced to grow up far too fast," Captain Wagner said. Jan Lobato of Exit Realty Advantage NM asked the public to stop by the Exit toy-drive table, scan a QR code, pick a tag from the Giving Tree or consult an online wish list.
The plaza program also showcased local music groups. Jerica introduced the Bells of Saint Francis (directed by Bob Miltonberger) and the Santa Fe Concert Band (led by founder and conductor Greg Helfman), and named individual musicians in the Santa Fe Brass ensemble. Performers offered seasonal music while organizers highlighted food and hospitality partners — including St. Vincent and the Salvation Army — who provided complimentary refreshments to attendees.
Organizers used the stage time to list upcoming city holiday activities and logistical details. Jerica read a short events calendar that included a Southside Holiday Mercado on Dec. 6 (10 a.m.–2 p.m.), a Guadalupe Street Winter Walk on Dec. 13 (3 p.m.–7 p.m.) and a Winter Wonderland family night at the teen center on Dec. 19 (5:30–7:30 p.m.). Attendees were directed to santafenm.gov/events for a fuller schedule.
Other on-site notes included vendor tables (Zizabadol, Rainbow Snow, El Valero, Sanchez Tacos and Diego’s Jewelry were named), a spot for Santa photos at the Christmas shop, and a public call for lost items: Jerica announced found keys, a wallet and a necklace and asked owners (Barbara Lopez and Ava Boros were named) to claim them at the stage.
The evening closed with reminders about donation and drop-off locations — including City Hall — and a final thanks from the emcee. The program emphasized community participation and local partnerships rather than any formal municipal decision-making.
