Rivera told colleagues the Department of Neighborhoods conducts the majority of community outreach across neighborhoods and that moving the work could diminish the interface between city staff and communities. Chair Strauss and other supporters said the ordinance aligns administrative responsibility with land-use functions and implements prior budget decisions.
The clerk recorded the roll-call on the record; the tally announced in debate was 6 in favor and 2 opposed and the chair signed the legislation.
