Fulton County approves $36,000 contract for economic-development work from Charlie Sparks

Sparks described work on a new industrial park, marketing for an available 32,600-square-foot building in Kewanna and a larger 116,000-square-foot site; he also listed recent and proposed housing projects, including a 184–185-unit Collins development and senior apartments. He said the city redevelopment commission has already approved its portion of the contract and that the city and county will share the cost.
Council members pressed for clearer reporting cadence. Sparks agreed to provide updates more frequently than the present annual presentation: "If you could come in quarterly ... just say, this is kind of what I'm working on," a council member suggested. Sparks accepted the suggestion and the council approved the contract 7-0.
The contract was presented as unchanged from the current year and will continue work on industrial-site readiness, outreach to prospective companies and coordination with landowners, utilities and engineering firms. The council did not attach additional conditions beyond the discussion of more-frequent progress reports.
Next steps: the county will finalize the contract paperwork and schedule requested quarterly updates from Sparks to the council.
